A striking perennial from New Zealand which hold the Royal Horticultural Society's award of Garden Merit for excellence.
Its tall clump of spiky upright dark green with a blue green underneath produces long stiff stemmed of red tubular flowers.
Likes sunny moist well-drained soil.
They are half hardy so need a frost free place to grow. Good for seaside southern England or warm areas.
