Larix Kaempferi.  Japanese Larch. Vigorous growth. Large tree with sea-green leaves which are longer than European Larch. Grows 25cm a year. Prefers most soils except wet, shallow or chalk. Mature height 25m.

A vigorous broadly conical -growing deciduous tree with spreading branches. Has blue green needle like leaves which open on purple shoots then turn yellow to orange in autumn/fall.

It flowers in Spring with pendulous yellow flowers on the male and pink, red or cream flowers on the female.

Grows up to 80ft, spreads to 33ft, in zones 4-6.

Its pendulous branches are graceful and and asset to a landscaped garden.

After the first couple of years this tree can grow a staggering 1.5 metres a year!!

There are no known medicinal or edible uses for this tree.
